Fuel, Focus & Fresh Faces: A Recap of the PSASA KZN Chapter May
2025 Meeting
On Tuesday, 13th May, the KZN Chapter of the Professional Speakers Association of Southern Africa (PSASA) hosted yet another powerful gathering at our now-beloved venue, the Gateway Hotel. The night was packed with vibrant energy, authentic connection and brilliant insights from two inspiring speakers. And with 28 attendees, this month proved one thing loud and clear: KZN is growing, and glowing.
Holding Space & Setting the Tone: MC Kerry Jones
The night kicked off with our Master of Ceremonies, Member Kerry Jones, who brought her signature blend of poise and charisma to the room. With clarity, humour and warmth, Kerry held the space beautifully – reminding us why a great MC doesn’t just manage flow but amplifies purpose and presence.
“I love holding space that’s energised, purposeful and on point.” — Kerry Jones
Presidential Welcome & Membership Milestones
Our Chapter President Colleen Wilson welcomed new and returning guests with her usual elegance and authenticity, giving a compelling overview of the value of PSASA membership. Her leadership continues to inspire not only structure but spirit and her ability to balance community, vision and professional rigour sets the tone for the chapter’s trajectory.
Guest Speaker 1: Nokuthula (Nox) Magwaza
Nox Magwaza took the stage next, and what a powerhouse she was! With energy that radiated and insights that hit home, Nox delivered a masterclass on leveraging LinkedIn for brand positioning, lead generation and intentional relationship-building.
Key takeaways from Nox’s talk:
● Your network = your net worth. LinkedIn is not just a CV platform; it’s a goldmine for authentic branding and relationship cultivation.
● Build a Blooming Brand: Align your content with your core values to attract the right audience.
● Optimise your profile: Make it clear, credible and conversation-worthy.
● Engage intentionally: Comment, collaborate and create to stay top-of-mind in your industry.
A serial entrepreneur and purpose-led leader, her talk left us all with homework and hope to elevate our digital presence with authenticity.
Member Speaker 2: Trevor Clark
Next up was Trevor Clark, a veteran business coach, ActionCOACH trainer and straight-talking strategist who reminded us all that “great speaking is just the beginning – now let’s build a business that supports your skills.”
In his talk, “Beyond the Mic: 7 Business Tips to Underpin Your Speaking Success,”
Trevor shared:
● Why knowing your numbers is non-negotiable.
● How to value your time and price your work like a business, not a hobby.
● The importance of repeatable systems that build scalability and not burnout.
● The role of mindset in running a sustainable speaking business.
Trevor’s energy was calm, confident and quietly compelling. Many guests praised the practicality of his tips and left with a clear call to treat their speaking journeys as purpose-driven enterprises, not passion-led side gigs.
Community, Connection & New Energy
The room was filled with conversation, laughter and shared aspirations. From
first-timers to long-standing members, everyone found a moment of connection.
Many guests spoke about how welcoming the community felt and how valuable it
was to hear stories from people walking the same path.
Special Shoutouts:
● To our Vice President Raksha Mahabeer, who perfectly summed up the night: “When passionate professionals unite, we elevate each other and unlock new opportunities for growth.
● To the new members who joined us this month: Welcome to the family! We’re so excited to walk this journey with you.
