Recap: PSASA Cape Chapter Meeting – A Night to Remember!
We had an incredible time at our latest PSASA Cape Chapter Meeting!
The evening kicked off with a delightful dinner and drinks, offering the perfect setting to mingle and get to know fellow members and guests.
Once we moved to the main meeting room, our Master of Ceremonies, Chantelle Botha, officially began the proceedings. She set an inspiring tone, reminding us that leadership is 20% strategy and 80% psychology.
Our Cape Chapter President, Marriet Visser, gave a warm welcome to everyone and set the stage for an exciting lineup of speakers.
Member Showcase:
We began with the member showcase featuring Terry Winship, who shared her personal journey, providing valuable insights and lessons on learning within a community. Terry firmly believes in the power of knowledge and continuous learning, and she is passionate about uplifting people. Visit her website at https://muditaconcepts.com/.
Featured Speakers:
Ian Hatton, our first speaker, captivated the audience with essential strategies for mastering online training. Key takeaways included the importance of leadership, the value of an inner journey, demonstrating online competency, and maintaining engagement. Ian also shared an inspiring quote from Neil Gaiman: “The one thing you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision.” We were thrilled to celebrate the release of Ian’s new book, Lead Like Morpheus: The Genius of Conscious Leadership.
We were also delighted by the presence of Dippy. Ian and Dippy, a charming little dinosaur, have traveled to 11 countries and 21 cities together. Dippy has been a feature of Ian’s keynotes, attracting attention and sparking conversations. Ian’s stories about Dippy, including his handcrafted garments gifted by members, added a personal touch to the evening.
Cobus “The Viking” Visser, our second speaker, inspired us with his journey of mastering habits for peak performance. He shared his remarkable path of self-discovery, emphasizing positivity and the strength of the human spirit. In his new book, Walking Through Fire #WhatEverItTakes, Cobus recounts how he has transformed setbacks into comebacks, scaled Mount Kilimanjaro on crutches, cheered national rugby legends to victory, and inspired thousands with firewalking and mental fortitude. Cobus led by example, walking on glass and teaching us how to enhance our focus and achieve our goals—a hit activity among members and guests.
Announcements and Networking:
Following general announcements by our Cape Chapter President, Marriet Visser and our Immediate Past President Claudio Chisté, we concluded the formal part of the evening and resumed networking and celebrating the birthday of the Immediate Past President of the Global Speaker Federation, Charlotte Kemp further strengthening the connections and impressions made.
