Beyond the stage – January Cape Chapter kick off

The year didn’t tiptoe in… it launched. January’s Cape Chapter meeting, Beyond the Stage, set the tone for what promises to be a bold, future-focused year of professional speaking, with an evening that challenged members to think bigger than the mic and braver than the spotlight.

With an engaged room and that unmistakable “new year, new energy” buzz, the Chapter kicked off with a clear message: success in speaking today isn’t just about what happens on stage, it’s about what you build beyond it.

First up: Carina Smith-Atten with Booked. Remembered. Rebooked. The Speaker Brand That Works Beyond the Stage.

Carina delivered a sharp, practical session that cut straight to the heart of what separates busy speakers from forgettable ones. She unpacked how to shape experience, expertise, and personal impact into a compelling speaker identity. One that clients recognise, trust, and come back to. Members walked away with a clear framework for turning their story and presence into a brand that works just as hard online as it does in the room.

Then the conversation leapt forward: Bruce Wade with AI Bots for Tomorrow.

Bruce demystified the rapidly evolving world of AI for the service sector, showcasing the speaker-focused bots that he and his team have built. With accessible examples and real-world applications, he demonstrated how speakers can leverage their intellectual property through AI, amplifying client delivery, enhancing impact, and building scalable, sustainable business models that would have felt like science fiction not so long ago.

Two sessions. One powerful throughline:
The future of professional speaking belongs to those who build brands and systems that extend far beyond the stage.

As always, the evening closed with animated conversation, sparked ideas, and, of course, our group picture.

If January was any indication, this is going to be a year of momentum, innovation, and meaningful growth.

See you at the next meeting.

And if you’re not yet connected to the Cape Chapter community, now’s the perfect time to step beyond the stage with us.
