We recently enjoyed another enriching gathering at our July PSASA Cape Chapter Meeting, filled with inspiring conversations, valuable learning, and great networking opportunities. As always, the evening began with a warm welcome, delicious dinner, and drinks, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for members to reconnect and share insights.
Our Chapter President, Marlene McConnell, set an inspiring tone for the evening, highlighting the importance of continuous personal growth and professional impact. She shared exciting news about the upcoming Mid-Term Convention, Beyond the Stage, encouraging members to register via the PSASA website and participate actively. Mark your calendars—this exciting event will be held online from October 21-23, 2025, from 19h00 to 21h00!
Master of Ceremonies Kyle Jantjies ensured the evening ran smoothly, keeping us engaged and on track throughout the program.
The main theme for the evening, Mastering Voice and Emotional Intelligence for Greater Impact, aimed to deepen our understanding of authentic communication and emotional mastery. Attendees left with practical strategies to amplify their influence and forge meaningful connections.
Our first speaker, Ursula Botha, delivered a compelling virtual presentation on “Building Your Confident Voice – How to Free Your Voice and Boost Your Impact.” Her engaging session included insightful knowledge and practical exercises to help us develop our confidence. Ursula emphasized the motto: “Be so good they can’t ignore you!” — learning to utilize our voices to magnify our messages. We also explored the seven scales of a confident voice and rituals to strengthen vocal presence, ensuring we stand out in any setting.
In person, André Fourie captivated us with his talk on “Brains That Know Better… Still Get It Wrong: The Missing Link Is EQ.” He delved into how emotional intelligence (EQ) influences decision-making, relationships, and overall well-being. André emphasized that understanding how our brain functions is crucial for both personal and professional growth, providing practical insights to develop emotional mastery.
The evening concluded with closing remarks from Kyle Jantjies, followed by more networking, just in time to strengthen existing connections and forge new ones.
