We had two speakers Keshni Mathi and Ntsoaki Sibiya who presented enjoyable and engaging talks on Effective Leadership.
Gary kicked off the meeting with the itinerary. Desiree Pillay MC’d a meeting that was enjoyable and engaging,
Keshnie Mathi
Keshnie Mathi is an international public speaker, counsellor and coach with special focus in the areas of neuro-diversity, inclusive education, palliative care and transitional support. She is the founder of the End of Life Supportive Alliance (ELSA) and The Wellness Specialist Academy of Life & Learning. Keshnie is currently completing her PhD.
Spent 11 years in the US, 6 on ships and was one of the youngest Leaders to elected on to a committee. Took her 7 years to get to the point she was inspired. She was inspired by someone who told children ‘you will do great things’ but only if you allow yourself to be in the hands of others’. You have been created to make a mark. Shew drew inspiration from a pencil.
She is a counsellor, and she learned more from her clients than she expected. Everybody is a leader. People will choose who they want to lead them. She wanted to show people how to Discover the art of “Leading WELL” – a journey of understanding the interconnectedness of wellness, empathy, purpose, and legacy in leadership.
If Leaders tap into their sub-conscious they will do well. Preventing burnout is better than cure. ‘Here me, see me, believe me’ are the most important aspects of the subconscious messages.
Have you ever had a Lollipop Moment is when someone comes to you and says you changed my life, you’re an amazing person? She invites us to keep pencils in your pockets and Lollipops in your bag.
Ntsoaki Sibiya
Ntsoaki Sibiya is a prominent South African entrepreneur who has established herself as an expert in the realm of mentorship and mindset transformation for mentees. As a successful businesswoman in a male dominated industry, she understands the potential of economic growth through the empowerment and mentorship of women.
Ntsoaki says: Learn how to “Lead with Impact”. She focussed on
– Building a strong foundation of self-awareness and emotional intelligence
– Developing a clear vision and strategy for sustainable success
– Cultivating a culture of excellence and accountability within your team
She gave an anecdote about her mother, she says growing up her late father was an entrepreneur. For her Leadership is how you show up and assert yourself. How you assert yourself is important. She’s talking about leading mentoring and empowerment with impact. Everything we do needs to have an impact, and empower with impact.
Being Ego driven in our leadership instead of purpose driven isn’t good. To lead with impact, vison, humility and authenticity is important. When a leader is ego driven you prioritise being right over doing what’s best for the team.
Are you an ego driven leader or are you an impact driven leader? How do you shift?
Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of the Joburg Chapter AGM and discover the secrets to effective leadership. Shifting to more impact driven leadership means embracing servant leadership is about lifting others up.
Leading with humility and not authority, foundation of strong leadership. Am I willing to give feedback. Focussing purpose rather than prestige. A purpose driven leader will focus on how it will create impact. Purpose driven leaders are focussed on the mission of the organisation. Creating an environment for growth rather than rivalry.
Control your emotions and make people believe in you, you build trust within the team, you create impact. As yourself are you feeding your ego or the purpose of the organisation.
Mentor’s are a trusted advisor, somebody who walks the path that you see. Mentorship is a function and a resource for the, becoming impactful as a mentor, means you can’t be insecure about yourself. The essence of mentorship is to equip and develop. Creating empowering environments. To Lead and mentor with and purpose is important.
AGM Session
The session included feedback from the outgoing president and voting in new president. All has to be ratified by the Exco. We have a team that does way more work than they are expected to do George and Kerry were introduced, Diana, Saul and Gadi were introduced.
The bottom line is what you put in is what you get out type of organisation. Gary says he gets work with so many incredible people. Its about engaging with people. It’s been a wonderful year, we only elect the president at the AGM. Steve will be the incoming president of the national association. Stepping into your authority and your space.
The nomination we had for president is George. Everyone has done a great job.
There were no other nominations. And Gary who got Steve’s proxy casted his vote in favour of George for president. George then addressed the group, and thanked everyone for their support and said lets what happens in 12 months.
