PSASA KZN Chapter Meeting – 20 August 2015

PSASA Durban Chapter Meeting on 20 August 2015

at SA Home Loans this month

Hi PSASA members and friends

I trust that you are having a rewarding month. Ladies I trust you are not only celebrating but also empowering our women of South Africa.

Join us next Thursday as we explore the power of sound, when you are presenting, and how to prepare and deliver webinars.

As Gateway Conference Centre is fully booked, I would like to thank SA Home Loans for offering us their training room.

Our program includes;

Welcome and Introductions of members and guests

Introduce yourself with a ‘1 Minute Elevator Speech’, or share a ‘Needs and Leads’

Skype Interview
‘Webinars – Pain or Profit?’

Annabel Kaye, a senior member of the Professional Speakers Association in the United Kingdom, will pay us a ‘virtual visit’ to talk about –

  • The nature and purpose of webinars;
  • How to profit from the use of webinars;
  • How to prepare and deliver webinars.

She will answer as many of our questions as time permits.

Annabel is the MD of Irenicon Limited. Since 1980 she has been helping organisations find a way to “put the Human into HR”. An engaging and often humorous speaker, Annabel will help us to make sense of a medium that most speakers are still too nervous to use.

Book Review

Stephen Smith will share why anyone who is serious about using social media for business should get this book.

The Art of Social Media—the one essential guide you need to get the most bang for your time, effort, and money.
Or as Guy puts it, “great stuff, no fluff.”

Mid break
Guest Speakers
‘Speakers, Sound and Technical Know-how’
Husband and wife team, Allison and Bernard Alan-Brown are experts in the technical aspects of sound. They will talk to us about –
  • Microphones and other technical equipment
  • Interacting with sound engineers at events
  • Making the best of your voice when speaking or recording.
Each of them is an interesting person in his or her own right. Bernard qualified as a sound engineer in the 60’s, had a brief career in music and has been working with the technical aspects of sound for over thirty years. Allison worked in the tourism sector in Portugal, moving to South Africa in the late 80’s. Working with the Natal Philharmonic Orchestra (now KZNPO) as Organiser and acting CEO, she then joined Bernard at BA Sound.Together, they have been providing technical advice and equipment ever since, while still having an interest in making their own music. A lively couple, they will both address us and demonstrate some equipment, also answering questions from the audience.
