Jo’burg Chapter Meeting
19 Aug 2021 @ 19:00 - 21:00 SAST

Dear members, colleagues and friends
As we enter Women’s Month, we have lined up two excellent, speakers to talk on topics that apply not only to our speaking business, but also our life online and offline. Both are award winners in their fields and will each provide a unique perspective.
Going virtual is also about securing your virtual platform. Cybersecurity expert Rianette Leibowitz will show us how we can start on a journey to cyber wellness, and provide a guide to a healthier approach to managing our speaking businesses. This talk ties in neatly with from our privacy and POPIA talk in June.
We then have an extraordinary talk from Yael Geffen, talking about her great comeback from surviving childhood sexual abuse, her brother’s suicide, three miscarriages, a divorce, and taking over a group CEO position after the former CEO was charged with murdering his wife at a company event.
These two talks will provide both technical and emotional insights into how to improve your speaking business, and into the hardships women can experience.
Learnings from the last meeting
Going online means competing in a global speaker space. Graeme Codrington provided excellent advice on how South African speakers can compete at an international level by levelling up their online presence. He also provided a future outlook on how hybrid events will be handled, and how speakers can mitigate the effects of poorly organised events by insisting on using tools fit for a speaker’s purpose.
Nikki Bush and Taryn-lee Kearney facilitated feedback, respectively, on the learnings of the last PSASA Annual Convention, and plans for next year’s convention. The overriding message was the value to members will keep growing.
Warm regards
Arthur Goldstuck
