Jo’burg Chapter Meeting
18 Mar @ 19:00 - 21:00 SAST
Dear members, colleagues and friends
The year seems to be flying by at a pace with our March meeting in sight. Please join us for an inspiring evening of storytelling from the inimitable, master storyteller, Rob Caskie, who is also a PSASA Speaker Hall of Fame inductee (2019).
As we find ourselves surrounded by disruptive fallout from COVID in so many areas of our lives, Rob will regale us with the tale of Shackleton’s Endurance Expedition to the South Pole that is considered one of the greatest examples of leadership in history. It is also considered the greatest survival story of the modern age. There are many important lessons that emerge from this story in which the ship, Endurance, is crushed by sea ice, leaving 28 men and 57 dogs adrift on the pack ice. If one could ever conceive such disruption, requiring urgent responses, this survival story contains magnificent examples. Shackleton often said that problems were just something to overcome after all. His leadership and ever-changing responses to evolving circumstances are a wonderful lesson to us all in the face of the Covid pandemic.
We will also be holding our annual PSASA Jo’burg Chapter AGM to report on the year gone by and to vote for the 2021/22 committee. The AGM will be short and sweet. While it would be lovely to do this over a glass of wine and a meal, we invite you to bring your favourite tipple to our virtual meeting anyway to toast to the end of a value-packed year that has benefited all our members in terms of collegiality and learning and to usher in a new year for our chapter.
Looking forward to seeing you all. Book your seat now.
