Charlotte took us through various models including how we learn shifting from unconscious incompetence to conscious competence, as well as Conscious Consumption, Conscious Leadership, Conscious Capitalism and her own Conscious Futurist Spiral. She made us take a long-deep look at 2020 and how we “survived”, how we operated and where we are now on her Conscious Futurist Spiral. We were encouraged to move out of ego, to plant the seeds for future generations who can be impacted, way beyond when we have left this planet. As members, we then discussed where we each found ourselves on the Conscious Futurist Spiral, and how we can shift up and down the spiral through our choices and actions. Conscious Futurist Spiral levels:

1st level: Survival

During Covid most people were operating on “survival”. Checking only if they are their families were safe, only looking beyond the next weekend. Once you know you are safe you are ready to move to the next level.

2nd level: Invested.

On this level you are looking into the next year, investing into your staff and your circle of peers. If I’m ok, how can I help others so we’re all ok?

 3rd level: Conscious:

Can we invest into something now, that can help people down the road? Here we move beyond ego, and care about the next generation. Through this work we change the dynamics in the office, leadership and cultures in countries.

4th level: Transcendent:

The timeframe is beyond our lives, where we impact cultures and generations beyond our reach.

Natural places where we fall down the spiral:

When we go through a health crisis, having a birthday ending with a 0, when we have children. Ask yourself:

“What am I doing, am I happy with this, with how I’m doing things? Am I pursuing the right goals? How am I going to approach this?

  • Look at automatic assumptions, look at what you buy.
  • How much stuff do we have, what have I acquired, is it necessary?
  • Hang out with people who are opposite to you, why do they believe what others believe?
  • Read other newspapers or media – find different sources of new
  • Work out your values, what you will and won’t do, who you will work with, and won’t partner with.
  • Define time in your own way – there is so much potential way out in our future.

Nikki Bush ended our meeting summarising some of the core insights from the break-away room discussions:

  • It’s one thing to predict the future, it’s another to walk your talk and act your predictions. Can you give a personal example as a speaker – it will make you more relatable.
  • The rate of change is so exponentiable, update your stories every week and see if they are still relevant.
  • Read and stay conscious of your content and your audience. This is so vital if you are going to be leading your clients. It takes a team and a village to make it happen.

Here are some of Nikki’s self reflection questions you can ask at the end of every day, if you want to evolve, switch off and sleep deeper:

  1. What worked for me today? What’s my role?
  2. What didn’t work for me today? What was my role in it?
  3. What can I do differently? Choose to make those changes.
  4. What emotion am I carrying?
