An emotional night filled with inspiration and lessons

Many tears were shed at the October meeting of the Johannesburg chapter of the Professional Speakers Association of Southern Africa (PSASA). The gathering played host to two keynote speakers, Nondumiso Sibiya and Nikki Bush, whose emotional and inspirational presentations left attendees thinking.

Don’t let your current circumstances determine your future

Sibiya’s talk summarised her life story and how she got to the position she’s currently in. Growing up in poverty in Soweto, the 21-year-old dropped out of studying a teaching degree at Wits University to work with waste. She is now the co-founder of Boombadotmobi, a waste management business platform that connects waste generators with waste collectors to facilitate the process of waste collection, and currently employs over 15 people. The key take away from her presentation was that most people tend to allow their current circumstances to either drag them down or to determine their future, as well as why it is important to be aware of what is happening in your environment and knowing how it can affect you.

What if “what if” happens to you

Seasoned, award-winning speaker, author, radio and television personality, and go-to parenting thought leader Nikki Bush gave a very emotional talk, which detailed six minutes which changed her life forever. She learnt many lessons from the tragic incident, including tips which she imparted to attendees on how to prepare for a “what if” moment, if it should happen to them. Her story is heartbreaking, and her bravery in recounting it must be lauded.   To see more details about the PSASA Johannesburg chapter meeting, and to book for meetings, click here.
