Welcome PSASA community, Speakers and Friends
I am pleased to invite you to the April meeting of the PSASA Pretoria Chapter, my first official meeting as Chapter President.
Our word for 2020/2021 is #Tenacity, which is relevant during this time of COVID 19 and beyond. #Tenacity will see us through challenging times and get us focussed on what needs to be done, even if it seems daunting.
Our guest speaker for April is Julie Courtnage, who has a career spanning 30 years in various industries; she has worked with consulting firms, and as a micro-business owner in the field of sustainability. For the past twelve years, she has worked as a consultant; facilitator and coach.
Our topic for the chapter meeting is Love @ Work
Leadership skills for 21st Century business include the so-called softer intra and inter-personal skills of empathy, compassion, care, emotional intelligence, and the ability to communicate well. The shift from business being a combative and competitive space to one of collaborative co-creation towards sustainable wellbeing is well documented.
Julie will speak about Love as a valid and valuable business effectiveness construct, and the acronym, for Long-term, Outlook, Values and Ethics. She confronts certain preconceptions and accepted assumptions about the way businesses need to work for success. She explores how tapping into the energy inherent in the word ‘love’ can be used for problem-solving, to reframe issues, and to shift perceptions of people, obstacles and opportunities. The title of her talk plays on love as an active element of organisations; love as a verb.
Wishing you good health and tenacity as we ponder our new normal,
Dr Maureen Tong
