The Hurdles Of Innovation
Simphiwe Makapela is an Entrepreneur, Professional Speaker and Writer. He is the Co-founder of The Hamelin, a Startup that invented a green solution for communities and farms that have a heavy and uncontrollable rat infestation. He Speaks on Innovation, and writes for ‘Innovation Excellence’ (USA), ‘Innovation Management’ (Sweden), and ‘Under30CEO,’ (USA), of which some of his articles have been in the Top 20 most read articles on the platform.
He will be speaking about a breakdown of the talk that earned him one of the favourite places at the 2018 Tedx Johannesburg: Decoding Greatness Conference; ‘The Hurdles Of Innovation.’ In this talk, he will be taking the audience through how he and his team at The Hamelin were able to solve one of the country’s most nagging problems: rat infestation. He will be exploring how they were able to go through 37 iterations until they eventually found a model, the 38th one, that worked, and solved the problem. In this talk, the audience can expect an entertaining and humorous way to learn about what happens when an individual, a team or a company decides to innovate, what hurdles and challenges will be encountered, hence, ‘The Hurdles Of Innovation.’
