The PSASA 2021 convention is being held at the Devonvale Wine Estate near Stellenbosch in the Western Cape from the 16th to the 18th April. The theme is ’NEXT’ . Next is a word that defines the speaking profession in 2021. It is today, tomorrow, and the future. It is certainty and uncertainty. It is strategy, planning, and execution. It is both the next big thing and the smallest nuances of how the world is changing. The next phase in our profession and our careers may be different for each individual, but it cannot be the same as it was before 2020. Especially in this time of radical change and fundamental shifts in society and the economy globally, our focus must be on what comes next, what we plan to do next, and what our clients need next. In short, the PSASA NEXT Convention 2021 will guide you in what happens … next.
The convention is a hybrid event meaning there will be live and virtual speakers and delegates. We have a fantastic line up of live and virtual speakers from different countries around the world, as well as some of the best speakers in South Africa. 50 people are expected to attend the live event and other delegates will be accommodated on the virtual platform.
We are a part of the SA Events Council which has South African membership of over 9,000 and a wider community beyond that. The membership support is implemented through structures within the various provinces. We currently have five chapters and these are; Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town and a Virtual Chapter. All these chapters hosts monthly meetings aimed at sharpen the skills and expand the members understanding of the speaking profession. This also extends to understanding the full value chain of the business through the various support functions.
PSASA exists to support the speakers, trainers, coaches, facilitators and others in our profession. We are currently looking to a structured developmental programme aimed at capacitating the young professional to enter into our esteemed profession.
We believe in fully engaging our audience and in addition to the above platforms we also have approximately 2,000 people subscribed to the newsletter.
The growth and active participation in the PSASA community both in terms of guest speakers and members can be attributed to our structured support programmes that have been very successful in producing results for the individual members and the association as a whole. A mastermind is a group of peers, collaborating and supporting each other to learn and apply what they have learned to further their careers. – These masterminds are not official chapters of PSASA, but hosted by PSASA members. – Generally PSASA masterminds are open to non-members as well as members of PSASA.
