All over the world, people in organisations have gathered round the water cooler (or in the kitchen making tea or coffee) to catch up with each other’s news.

But physical distancing and lockdown have removed people from access to this hub of ‘connectivity’.

Ian Hatton, well-known Facilitator and Speaker, and President of the PSASA Virtual Chapter, shared excellent insights at Monday night’s meeting about building trust in virtual relationships and how very important is it at this point in history to be forging connections.

One of the ways to do this is by creating a ‘virtual watercooler’ via an online chat-time – no agenda, no heavy-handed administration … just a time when people can catch up and re-connect!

Preceding this talk, Sue Fuller-Good – who is a Specialist Physiotherapist, lifetime adventurer and Master Coach in helping people find ways to manage their fears and develop confidence in the face of unforeseen circumstances – opened our minds to consider the resources we already have to deal with anxieties and fears.

In this time of disruption, we cannot be at the mercy of our subconscious minds – we must find purposeful ways to develop competence in handling the new world that is dawning.

In profound change, we need to know how best to cope, stay focused and stay healthy. Sue helped us find the tools to handle all that this demands of us.

The evening started with the welcome of our new Chapter President for the 2020 term. Mr Unotida Nyoni has spent the past 15 years in the financial sector as a Financial Growth Advisor, Financial Manager of the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation, a Mandela Washington Fellow and is Author of the recently published How To Multiply Your Value.

Thank you to the virtual audience of about 50 people who joined us for an excellent evening of instruction, insight and stimulation. If you want to develop your understanding of the professional speaking world (or are looking for a home as a Speaker) please join us on the 3rd Monday of every month.
