Speaking and book writing – what’s the connection?
We hear so much about the importance of speakers writing their own books, but it’s not that easy, or is it?
To find out, join us next week at the Gauteng Chapter meeting where we have gathered some of our successful speaker authors for a panel discussion and to answer your questions. Nikki Bush, Dineshrie Pillay, Paul du Toit, (Douglas Kruger tentative, pending client requirements) and Jacques de Villiers each have a different strategy and approach writing and how they make money from their books. If you want the inside track, do join us, together with your questions and let’s crack open this topic.
The first session: Authors will share their personal stories, tips and tricks for getting their ideas out of their heads and onto the screen. They will dip into the self-publish, publisher, ebook debate along the way.
The second session: Authors will share how they have made money out of their books because publisher royalties really don’t pay the bills (unless you sell millions of copies, that is!)
Here’s a little more about each of the panel members:
- Nikki Bush has co-authored several books, including Tech-Savvy Parenting (with Arthur Goldstuck), Future-proof your Child (with Dr Graeme Codrington) and Easy Answers to Akward Questions (with Ilze van der Merwe).
- Dineshrie Pillay authored and launched her first book last year, The Contract with Yourself.
- Paul du Toit has authored and co-authored several books, including The Exceptional Speaker (with Alan Stevens), You Can Present With Confidence and A Gentleman’s Prerogative.
- Jacques de Villiers is a ghost-writer and copywriter and is a supporter of the Business Card On Steroids book, and can help with all aspects of the book, including design, print and distribution.
