Dear Sibusiso

1. Annual General Meeting
The first Annual General Meeting of the NSASA is scheduled for Tuesday 16 August 2005, at Hacklebrook Estate, corner Jan Smuts Avenue and Conrad Drive, Craighall! This is an opportunity for members from all categories of membership to be updated on the current status of the organization, make suggestions and give feedback on your experiences of the past year. It is of course also a great opportunity to network with like-minded people! Please join us for this important meeting. We need a quorum to make certain decisions, and your inputs are valuable in guiding our focus for the future.

During our AGM, we will be launching the database on our website. This will enable members to load their own profile and photo. There will be a short demonstration on how speakers can use the site to market their business.

President: Welcome to Paul du Toit, one of the founder members, who was elected as our new President and Billy Selekane as first Deputy President. We wish you the best and know that you will make a huge success of the task.

Immediate past president: The Board and Members would like to thank Stef Du Plessis for his initiative and initial ground work that made the organization a reality. Stef now becomes our very first immediate past President, who will in this capacity still be an advisor to the Board.

New board member: Welcome to Ray Laferla who was co-opted on to the Board of Directors. His insight, wisdom and experience are of much value! Ray has a masters degree in clinical psychotherapy and a doctorate in occupational psychology. He is an international speaker, consultant and trainer and has authored four books.

To be nominated during GM: According to protocol, the existing board resigns annually with the exception of the incoming president and deputy president. The members of the current board have indicated that they are willing to serve another term. If the current members are re-elected, one more committee member is required, and a treasurer needs to be elected from the new committee - ideally a person with a financial background. Please email nominations to mailto:president@nsasouthafrica.co.za to reach him no later than 12 August 2005.

We are proud to announce that ICE Solutions was voted the preferred events organizing company for 2007 Global Speakers Summit bid. Jon Panos Tours will assist Ice Solutions with tour packages. ICE Solutions are also assisting us in putting together our first National Convention aimed for April 2006. With a very impressive bid and convincing, customized presentation to the board, ICE Solutions bowled us over.

We had excellent turnouts at Hacklebrook Estate for our last two local guest speakers who provided international class talks on subjects of vital important to both experienced and emerging speakers.

Clive Simpkins delivered a highly informative talk on authentic speaking  and gave attendees copies of his excellent book, Concise Communicator.

Graeme Codrington, one of the most booked speakers in the country at the moment,   shared his personal experience and insights about running a mobile office.

International speaker or aspiring international speaker : Do you want to earn while you sleep? Then don’t miss this opportunity to learn from the king of product marketing. Frank Furness, the expert on product marketing, will show members how, during his bootcamp on 27 and 28 August 2005.

Frank will be doing a bootcamp preview on 22 August at Hacklebrook Estate 18h30 to 20h00. The programme for the evening will be:

18h30    Intros
18h40    Frank's Bootcamp Preview
19h10    Latest technology for speakers (Frank Furness)
19h55    Close

The fee will be R50.00 for members, R100.00 for non-members (R50 is refundable if you attend Franks Bootcamp 27-28 August). If Frank Furness is a name that is not familiar to you - besides being extremely busy on the international circuit, he is widely regarded as one of the speaking fraternity's "techno-whizzes" - an evening not to be missed.

Local speakers: The following local speakers have offered to share their insights with us:
Celynn Erasmus and Christine Stent Pinha who are experts on nutrition, will chat with us about "Nutrition on the Run", especially valuable now that we're launching into "Silly Season",
Conrad Koch who is our only humorist professional member, who will talk to us about "How to Use Humour in Your Presentation";
Clive Simpkins will be doing a morning session on The Basics of Speaking, (following his hit presentation on "Authentic Presenting") on Saturday 13 August at Hacklebrook and in Durban on August 20th;
Quinton Coetzee (easily one of South Africa's most booked speakers over the last ten years) has also agreed to share his insights into the South African speaking industry and how he grew his phenomenally successful business.
