Welcome to the PSASA. It is indeed an honour to be elected as National President. If I look at what awesome opportunities and experiences my speaking career has afforded me, I am thankful that I now sit in a position that I can 'give back' to the industry.

There are so many issues I would like to touch on in this Presidential Message, and yes, I can talk for hours about things that leave me speechless! However, it is my intention to keep this short and sweet, and rather attend as many meetings, events, conferences as I can, and meet every member personally during this year. If anything, our international network and affiliation to the Global Speakers Federation has afforded me the opportunity to build friendships and networks with so many fantastic speakers who are doing so much to make this world a better place for all. I strongly urge all members to make it a goal this year to attend at least one international conference this year. The life long friends you make, the lessons you learn and just the experience of spending time together with so many authentic colleagues is a life changing experience.

There are 4 key issues I want to tackle this year.

  1. It is my intention to foster a spirit of 'Giving' within the PSASA. All too often in many organisations, members sit back and ask, “What is in it for me?” As speakers I want to challenge each and every one of you to instead ask,”What can I give to the PSASA and all it's members?” Just imagine if everyone starting giving? That would mean every meeting you attend – everyone else is giving something back to you!

However, let us not only limit this to our profession, but to family and friends too. We have the respect, position and power to change the world, and this wonderful country we live in. If we spread a message of love, understanding and respect to everyone around us, I truly believe we can make a difference.

  2. In a similar vein I would like to challenge each of you to become more 'Green.' By this I mean, contribute to the environment and social development.

  3. It is also my intention this year to vastly increase the brand awareness of the PSASA throughout the speaking and corporate industry. The more we are seen as an association in the press, at events and exhibitions the more trust and respect we will build as a truly professional body. It is up to each and everyone of us to also live this code of ethics in everything we do.

  4. With regard monthly meetings and events, I want to challenge all the Chapter Presidents to do your utmost to attract new members, make the meetings a 'must attend' event for everyone by creating fun, excitement and making sure everyone walks away with something that can help their career.
