|Dear PSASA members
Please join us on Wednesday evening, 19 September, 18:15 for 18:30 when we will be joined by Douglas Kruger as our speaker. Douglas will be speaking on “the business of writing and publishing”. In our second section, we will have a showcase of a few members with short talks of their choice, more details will be revealed on the night!
When CEOs of leading brands want guidance and advice on business innovation, and when progressive organisations see the need for cultural change, Douglas helps them unpack how Elon Musk outperforms NASA, how 10x organisations exponentially out-earn industry dinosaurs, and why remaining ‘relentlessly relevant’ to a market does not depend on past legacy, but current-day innovation.
In addition to his business acumen, Douglas is the only person ever to have won the Southern African Championships for Public Speaking a record five times. He is a Certified Speaking Professional, and an inductee into the Speakers Hall of Fame. Douglas puts it forward that speaking and writing go hand in hand, and in his talk he’ll help us discover how to go about getting published, and how books interact with your speaking career.
The Neuroscience of Persuasion
Applying the latest neuroscience to influence people.
An avalanche of new evidence can now better explain the way humans behave. So if you are in sales, negotiations or leadership, you’ll be interested in this topic.
To answer the question, ‘What makes someone persuasive?’ Ian draws on the practical knowledge and wisdom of 20-years sales, marketing and leadership facilitation. To this end, he developed a Neuro-Persuasion System, which became part of his master thesis, which was also validated by testing it on thousands of people. Thus by using a triangulation of neuroscience, sales and leadership disciplines, is what makes this persuasion talk interesting.
Ian is also the ex marketing and sales director of the global zipper giant, YKK.
As a Chartered Marketer he lectures at the number one business school in Africa, GIBS. And as MD of Markitects he has trained or consulted to almost every major blue-chip company in SA.
In a hypercompetitive world, we think this talk is well timed.
